Ever since the 1858 declaration branding “the Colony of British Columbia,” the rough virgin timbered land,where 160 acres could be had for $1 per acre; land speculators and developers have been carving it up, selling lots and developing the City ofVancouver. The arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1887 kick started Vancouver’s real first building boom from 1990 to 1913. Bruce will discuss the 30’s decline, the glorious 80’s and the circumstance which lead to present times, whereVancouver real estate has increased in value about 100 times in the last 40 years.
